Passengers, especially in high season, are fervently requested to respect the Check Out hours, so that passengers who enter the Lodge find their rooms ready, for this reason it is recommended to leave their luggage ready before 12:00 p.m. in the Lobby and approach the reception to hand over the keys and pay for additional charges.

From the airport, shared or private transport to the Enapu Port by car. Boat transfer to and from the Lodge via motorized speed boat through the Amazon River. Hiking and walking within the rainforest and lodge grounds. Agility required for visiting the jungle. Not appropriate for wheelchair or other mobility aids. Visitors must anticipate the extreme heat and humidity of the jungle by finding out the exact weather condition at the time of travel in order to be ready with clothing and accessories.

Price of additional transfers (not regular)

The price of the boats for additional and shared transfers are:

  • RT (Round Trip) US $ 360.00 net by boat 
  • OW (One Way) US $ 180.00 net by boat
  • Private ground  and river transportation service US $ 450.00 net by boat OW ( one way)

Also, if you do not take the suggested flights, it could cause one of the scheduled activities, especially the day of arrival, IS LOST and not hurt to do the other scheduled activities in the hostel.

ARRIVAL FLIGHTS: We reccomended take  flighs by LATAM or SkY arriving to Iquitos before 09:00 hrs
DEPARTURES FLIGHTS: We reccomended take flights by LATAM departuring to Lima after 17:30 hr 
During your stay at the Lodge you can count on a cellular line, although we suggest that you turn it off as you have come to the jungle to have fun and rest. We do not have wifi signal, the internet is very limited.
 
 
It is important that you bring only necessary clothing and travel gear to the lodge. Due to weight and space limitations on the domestic flight and on the boat to the Lodge, passenger luggage is limited to 10 kg. (22 lbs.) per person. You may store some of your luggage in our office in Iquitos City and take only the most essential during your stay.
 
• Light cotton clothes, pants and long sleeve shirts (preferably in earth colors: olive green, light brown/khakis of light, breathable, quick-dry material; please avoid using white color in the jungle)
• Hiking boots or walking tennis shoes resistant to humidity; cotton socks.
• Bathing suit
• A light water proof parka jacket, raincoat or sweater (when the temperature goes down considerably or when it rains)

It is recommended that passengers inform us in advance of their arrival of any type of food restriction, allergies or special diets to schedule supplies before their arrival at the Lodge. 
Families with children are encouraged to contact the Administrator to arrange meals. 
 
Buffet Service: Buffet service at the Lodge is available for 10 guests or more. Otherwise the service will be served.
A pitcher of soda will be provided at lunch and dinner. Additional orders for soft drinks, alcoholic beverages and bottled water  will be charged.
There is enough water for daily use produced by our water treatment plant. However, we ask our guests to save as much water as possible.
 
 
 
Electricity is available:
Mornings: 06:00 to 09:00 hours. In some cases from 05:30 a.m. to 09:00 a.m.
Lunch: from 12:30 to 14:00 hours
Afternoon and evening: from 17:30 to 23:00 hours
 
Take advantage of this time to charge your batteries and/or electronic devices.

From 22300 hours the Lodge is illuminated with lamps and there is no attention in the Bar.


Please consult your doctor at least a month before entering the Amazon Basin. No cases of yellow fever or malaria have ever been reported in our properties. The most common ailments for travelers are diarrhea and fatigue. Take necessary precautions with local exotic food and alcoholic beverages. Eating and drinking in moderation is always the best safety measure to avoid discomfort and unnecessary hassle while traveling.

Yellow fever vaccination. Malaria and yellow fever vaccinations are not necessarily required for travelers coming into the region, but are highly recommended.

Our first aid kit in Heliconia Lodge is basic to counteract insect bites, indigestion, headache or fever but in case you require the service of a professional we have medical service in the Yanamono Clinic. The medical service is not included in the prices of the programs.

To be considered at Heliconia Lodge

Physical conditionS: Passengers should be in good physical condition in order to make all the excursions. The nature trek may involve walking on irregular terrain. Embarking and disembarking from our boats requires that you be reasonably fit and sure-footed.
 

We are in the jungle so mosquitoes and all kinds of insects will be part of your  stay in the Lodge please keep your room door always closed and, of course, use repellent.
The rooms windows are protected with wire mesh but you can bring a mosquito net or request it to the manager.
 
Something that is recommended to prevent the mosquito bites is taking vitamin B and B12, 15 to 20 days before coming to jungle because is  demonstrated that it has a repellent effect in the blood unpleasant for mosquitoes . Of all ways we recommend you bring a repellent with DEET above 50 % .We recommended our guest do not carry food to the rooms.
Once installed in your room we invite you to go to our deposit of rubber boots to locate your size and take it to your room.
 
You will find the boots clean, so we ask that they be returned clean as well.
 
At the end of each walk you will find at the entrance to the Lodge as well as at the back of the Lodge a tap or laundry room where you can clean your boots with a suitable brush.
If your stay is short and you will no longer use the boots we ask you to return the boots to the deposit, but if your stay is long or you have more than 1 excursion that involves using them on several occasions, please leave them outside near the door of your room, not inside the room.
 
Warning: Before putting on your boots please make sure that no insects have entered.
 
It is recommended to indicate the size of the boot when making your reservation.
 

The weather in Iquitos and in the Amazon Basin is  warm and humid with temperatures of 31°C (88°F) and 21°C (70°F).
 
Weather along the Amazon River is differed into two seasons: a High Water season from December through May and a Low Water season that lasts from June until November. Conditions in this region in Peru remains generally warm with some rainfall even during low water season. In fact, despite being the “rainy” season, during the High Water months, the Amazon only gets about 10% more rain than in the low water season. 
 
The low water season (June-November) and the high water season ( December- May) feature particular differences in the plant and animal life as well as in the climate.
Conditions on the river change with the seasons but each rewards visitors in different ways. During the high water season, the river and estuaries grow, allowing launch boats to venture deeper into the flooded forest. During the low water season, the river recedes and beautiful sandy river beaches are formed.  
 
FIRE PROTECTION:
We have fire extinguisher equipment strategically located in different areas of the hotel.
We also have fire hose cabinets and smoke detectors in each room.
 
SECURITY:
We have 3  guards, radio communication equipment and alarm megaphones.
 
AGAINST ACCIDENTS:
We have emergency signage: concentration point in case of emergency, boots for excursions, life jackets, signs for slippery when wet floors , alert for not to lean on the railings, etc.
 
We also have insurance covering for domestic transfers and hospitalization. We encourage to buy a special international tourist insurance for all your trips.
 
We suggest that you keep all your valuables and money in the safety deposit box in each room and keep the key to your room during your stay at the Lodge.
We ask our passengers to read their itinerary according to the contracted program. In case you do not wish to carry out an activity, please inform your guide. 
 
Heliconia Lodge, by taking all the preventive measures, will not assume responsibility or expenses, for any damage or loss caused by acts of Nature and reserves the right to modify or cancel any tour (if necessary) to protect the interests of the guest. All passengers must have traveler's insurance and inform the company, the insurance company and its coverage.
 
The itinerary of our programs may vary depending on the climate, the seasons of the year that regulate the water level of the rivers (empty and rising) and makes it impossible to perform any activity and wildlife cycles, in order to protect their natural habitat, likewise the itineraries may suffer variations due to changes in local flight schedules.
 
Also, if you do not take the suggested flights, it could cause one of the scheduled activities, especially the day of arrival, IS LOST and not hurt to do the other scheduled activities in the hostel.
The operations office reserves the right to schedule the income and departures from / to the hostel depending on the availability of its river boats and the number of passengers; to schedule a different schedule to that offered, the company will compensate with some activity in the city that could be a city tours, lunch in a restaurant, etc..
 
 
 
Guests are requested to deposit their inorganic garbage such as paper, plastic, and others in the marked bins located in different parts of the Lodge.
 
Batteries: It is recommended that guests use rechargeable batteries for their cameras or other equipment, otherwise if you use disposable batteries take them home where you can dispose of them properly.
We do not have a disposable battery dispenser in the Lodge and even less the city does not have an environmental policy for hazardous waste such as batteries.
 
It is also requested that you do not give batteries to residents of nearby communities, because many times they end up being disposed of in the river or in the jungle.
